One U.S. Capitol Police officer was killed and another was injured after someone rammed into the north barricade of the Capitol complex, according to law enforcement. The suspect was also killed.
The suspect was shot after they jumped out of the car and attacked an officer with a knife. Authorities said they do not believe the incident was terrorism-related.
The event occurred at a North Barricade vehicle access point. Congress was not in session at the time.
The Capitol is on lockdown because of the situation.
