In what may be the earliest 2024 presidential poll, a Morning Consult/Politico poll released Tuesday revealed that President Trump would easily win the Republican nomination for president in four years, should he run again.
Trump registered support from 54% of Republican-leaning voters, by far the highest support, with his vice president Mike Pence coming in second at 12%. Donald Trump, Jr. came in with 8% support.
Others who made the list but still polled at under 5% included:
- Florida Sen. Marco Rubio
- Texas Sen. Ted Cruz
- Utah Sen. Mitt Romney
- Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley
- Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton
- South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott
- South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem
- Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley
Trump has yet to concede the 2020 presidential race even as Democrat challenger Joe Biden begins the transition process. Should Trump leave office in January, nothing would bar him from running for a non-consecutive second term in 2024.
