3 billion now under lockdown worldwide

More than 3 billion people worldwide are currently living under lockdown in a global effort to stifle the spread of COVID-19.

Both Spain (4,145) and Italy (7,503) have surpassed the death toll in China (3,287) where the novel coronavirus originated, according to Worldometer.

According to a tally from the French news agency Agence France-Presse, more than 22,000 deaths have been reported in 182 countries and territories.

On Monday, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for a global ceasefire in a concerted effort against the common enemy of the novel coronavirus.
