Another 4.4 million Americans filed for unemployment last week, the Labor Department reported Thursday, bringing the five-week total number of U.S. citizens filing for first-time jobless benefits to a staggering 26.5 million.

? The 26.5 million Americans who have filed for unemployment in the past five weeks represent a stunning 16% of the U.S. workforce.
