A 5-year-old was pulled over by Utah police while driving his parent's car to California to buy a Lamborghini, Utah police said on Monday.

After his mother said she would not buy the luxury car for him, the boy left in the SUV. He was spotted on Interstate 15 weaving between lanes at 30 mph, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

Police said they originally thought the boy was an impaired driver.

"How old are you? You're 5 years old?" Trooper Rick Morgan said in dash camera footage of the traffic stop. "Wow ... Where did you learn to drive a car?"

The boy, who had $3, told the trooper he planned to visit California to buy a Lamborghini.

Morgan said it will be up to the local prosecutor to decide whether to file charges against the boy's parents.
