A significant earthquake shook the Salt Lake City area on Wednesday, causing some damage and for a brief period of time knocking out power and the city's coronavirus information hotline.
The quake, which hit both the city and surrounding Salt Lake County, registered as a 5.7-magnitude. Videos posted to social media indicate numerous locations suffered damage ranging from minor to moderate.
In at least one instance, real-time reactions to the earthquake were caught during the filming of a news report.
No injuries or deaths were reported.
