Todd Phillips is reportedly developing a sequel to the box-office hit Joker, which has topped $1 billion in earnings, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Sources say Phillips approached Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich about the idea and after what was allegedly a hesitant offer, Phillips apparently obtained the rights.

Joker is the fourth DC movie to breach the $1 billion mark. Others include Aquaman ($1.15 billion), The Dark Knight ($1.08 billion), and The Dark Knight Rises ($1.08 billion).

Because of its relatively low production cost, Joker has become the most profitable comic book movie ever.
