In an interview with Vanity Fair, "Cinderella" star Billy Porter blames the problems America is facing on "whiteness."
While he promoted social justice messaging from the Black Lives Matter organization and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Porter was asked by the magazine to name a fact or news story that "has not received enough attention."
"The reason why our country is in the mess we're in is simply because of whiteness," Porter responded. "White supremacy. White people choke-holding power and sucking the life out of humanity."
Porter then turned his anger towards President Trump, whom he referred to as "the cancer that is in our White House."
"Why are we not talking about figuring out how to remove this monster from the highest office in the land right now! ‘Cause we might not be alive come November. And this is not hyperbole," Porter said.
? Porter, the first openly gay black man to win an Emmy as a lead actor in a drama series, was the feature performer in a musical conclusion to the first night of last week's Democratic National Convention.
