The White House is facing questions why President Biden has yet to conduct a single solo press conference with the media. According to his press secretary, the president has no immediate plans to do that, but will schedule one at some point.

Recent scripted appearances by President Biden have heightened the sense that there could be ulterior reasons the White House is refusing to let the president speak extemporaneously.

During last week's trip to Texas, Biden mispronounced several names, including that of Texas Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, despite having a cue sheet in front of him.

Conservatives and Republicans have blasted the president's refusal to take serious, unscripted questions from media sources – a trend they say goes all the way back to the 2020 presidential campaign when then-President Donald Trump dubbed him, "Joe Hidin."

While Trump claimed to be the "most accessible president in history," Biden famously told CNN that his strategy of avoiding the coronavirus by staying in his basement worked "pretty well."
