24 hours after the U.S. airstrike that killed Iran's top general, Qassem Soleimani, at Baghdad's international airport early Friday, a new airstrike has been reported north of Baghdad which has killed five members of an Iran-backed militia, the Associated Press reports.

The Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces confirmed the strike. The identities of those killed were not immediately known, and it was not immediately clear who launched the strike.

An American official who spoke on the condition of anonymity denied the U.S. was behind the attack.
