Online retail giant Amazon is significantly delaying deliveries of nonessential items, the company confirmed Monday.
The move allows Amazon to focus on getting essential items — such as medical supplies, sanitizing products, baby formula, and household basics — to customers. Other items may be delayed as long as a month, according to product information on the Amazon website.
"To serve our customers while also helping to ensure the safety of our associates," a recent company statement read, "we've changed our logistics, transportation, supply chain, purchasing, and third-party seller processes to prioritize stocking and delivering items that are a higher priority for our customers. This has resulted in some of our delivery promises being longer than usual."
In Italy and France, the company has completely stopped delivery of nonessential items.
