The U.S. Army is warning Americans that the recruitment orders some citizens have been receiving through text message are fake and can safely be ignored.

The Army on Tuesday published a blog post warning about these messages, stating that they are "false and are not official Army communications."

On its website, the Army noted that the draft has not been in effect since 1973, and that any draft proposal would have to be passed by Congress and signed by the president before going into effect.
