Apple has officially announced its newest phones: a $999 iPhone 12 Pro and $1,099 12 Pro Max, both featuring support for 5G and a new squared-off design.
The releases are the first major redesign for Apple smartphones since 2017.
The iPhone 12 Pro has a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch display. Both displays are larger than the last year's phones, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max is Apple's largest phone to date.
In addition to new 5G technology, the newest phones also have a LIDAR sensor, which is used for AR effects. The sensor will also be used to help the phone autofocus in low-light situations and enables Night Mode portrait photography.
The phones also include enhanced photography technology, including a triple-camera system and additional lenses.
Preorders for the iPhone 12 Pro start on October 16 and will ship on October 23. Preorders for the iPhone 12 Pro Max start on November 6 and ship on November 13.
