Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey on Monday ordered bars, gyms, water parks, and movie theaters in the state to close again in response to a surge of coronavirus cases.
Sunday saw the state's highest tally of new confirmed cases of the virus at 3,853. In the past 10 days, Arizona's daily number of new cases has topped 3,000 seven times.
The businesses must remain closed for at least 30 days. Ducey's prior business closure order expired in mid-May.
The governor also declared Monday that schools should not start classes until at least August 17.
🔦 Texas, California, and Florida also have recently reclosed businesses due to significant numbers of new cases.
