Federal authorities announced on Tuesday that they had discovered a lengthy tunnel running from San Diego to Tijuana used to smuggle illicit drugs, a complex from which they seized $29 million in illegal drugs.

The tunnel, which extended more than 2,000 feet, ran from a warehouse in the Otay Mesa district of San Diego to one in Tijuana, Mexico. It reportedly possessed an underground railway system and sophisticated ventilation.

Among the drugs seized at the site were 1,300 pounds of cocaine and 86 pounds of methamphetamine. Authorities also confiscated two pounds of fentanyl, enough to kill upward of 500,000 people.
