A man who was previously reported to have died due to a power outage in California had a different cause of death, according to authorities.

Previous reports said that Robert Mardis, 67, died because a California power cut off shut down medical equipment he relied on for survival. An autopsy has revealed that he died of Severe Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis.

Mardis, who lived in El Dorado County, died around 12 minutes after PG&E cut his power on Wednesday. The company turned off electricity early Wednesday in parts of California ahead of strong winds.

Mardis had a severe case of COPD that required oxygen equipment powered by electricity.
