Amy Coney Barrett officially became a U.S. Supreme Court justice Tuesday when she took the judicial oath administered to her at the court building by Chief Justice John Roberts.
Roberts administered the oath during a private ceremony. Barrett's husband, Jesse Barrett, held the Bible on which she placed her hand while taking the oath. In addition to Roberts and the Barretts, the other justices of the court also attended the ceremony.
Barrett can now begin work on court matters.
