Conservative news personality Ben Shapiro is stepping down as editor-in-chief of the Daily Wire, but will remain with the news outlet as a co-owner and continue to create content.
John Bickley, better known by the pseudonym "James Barrett" on the site, will take the position of editor-in-chief. Bickley has effectively served as editor-in-chief for roughly two years, according to Jeremy Boreing, who is the outlet's CEO.
Shapiro's title with the site going forward will be "editor emeritus." He will still be the face of the Daily Wire, but will not drive the site's editorial direction.
The outlet has 136,000 subscribers and a total of 3.85 billion page views after five years of operation.
