Sen. Bernie Sanders dropped out of the 2020 presidential race Wednesday, conceding the Democratic nomination to Joe Biden.
Sanders announced his decision at 11:45 a.m.:
"I congratulate Joe Biden, a very decent man," Sanders said, "who I will work with to move our progressive ideas forward ... Together, moving forward, we will go on to defeat Donald Trump, the most dangerous president in modern American history."
The senator's exit now sets up a general election showdown between former vice president Joe Biden and President Trump.
