Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, long the frontrunner of the Democratic primary field leading up to the 2020 election, has significantly less money in his campaign coffers than four of his rivals.
Biden, with $9 million cash-in-hand, is out-saved by Bernie Sanders ($34 million), Elizabeth Warren ($26 million) and Pete Buttigieg ($23 million).
Biden also spent more than he earned during the third quarter of 2019, spending $17.7 million while earning $2 million less than that.
Most of Biden’s donations have come from donors contributing the maximum legal amount. Bernie Sanders has boasted that most of his donations come from individual small donors.
