Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke announced on Wednesday that his plan for gun control would include forcible confiscation of firearms by government officials if an American did not surrender his or her banned firearms.

Joe Scarborough on MSNBC asked O’Rourke what his administration would propose if “a rancher in Texas” refused to comply with a gun control law.

“In that case I think there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm,” O’Rourke said.

O’Rourke generated controversy last month when he said that “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15” at a Democratic debate.

O’Rourke has consistently polled near the bottom of the Democratic field.
