In September 2020, Democratic candidate Joe Biden's campaign has put an end to activities before noon nine times.

The latest example was Thursday, September 24. At 9:26 a.m., Associated Press reporter Zeke Miller tweeted that "Biden has called a lid for the day."

"A lid" is campaign lingo for an end to the day's activities. The early quitting times come when the nation is dealing with widespread looting, rioting, and protesting connected to racial tensions; a Supreme Court vacancy; and a stunted economy due to the coronavirus pandemic and associated restrictions.

President Trump criticized Biden for his early turn-ins at a rally in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

"Lid means he's not going to be anywhere today," Trump told the crowd. "I'm working my a-- off. I'm in Ohio, Texas, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin."

Some Twitter users also took up the topic.
