In the latest of many gaffes to have plagued Joe Biden on the 2020 campaign trail, the former vice president told a group at an event in South Carolina on Monday that "I'm the guy who came back after meeting with Deng Xiaoping" to work on the 2016 Paris Climate Accord.

"And folks, one of the things I'm proudest of, is getting past, getting moved, getting control of the Paris Climate Accord. I'm the guy that came back after meeting with Deng Xiaoping and making the case that I believe China would join if we put pressure on them."

🔦 Deng Xiaoping was leader of China from 1978 until 1992. He died in 1997.
