Presumptive Democratic nominees former vice president Joe Biden and California Sen. Kamala Harris confirmed on Thursday that they have raised $48 million in the 48 hours following Biden's announcement of his running mate on Tuesday.
Biden noted that 150,000 of the donors were first-time contributors to his 2020 presidential campaign.
Harris had already played a key role in helping Biden's campaign secure nearly $4 million during a fundraiser event in early June.
"This is a campaign that really fuels my hope because it is about knowing that this is fighting for something and not against something and it's fighting for the best we are as a nation," Harris said. "It's fighting for the best of who we can be."
? President Trump's reelection campaign announced last week that the campaign, the RNC, and its other fundraising committees combined brought in $165 million in contributions in August.
