Joe Biden said he injured his foot recently when he tripped on a rug after he left the shower to chase his dog.
"The little pup dropped a ball in front of me, for me to grab the ball, and I'm walking in this little alley-way to get to the bedroom, and I grabbed the ball like this," said Biden, gesturing that he leaned over to pick up the ball. "He ran, and I was joking running after him to grab his tail, and what happened was he slid on a throw rug, and I tripped on the rug he slid on."
"Follow-up CT scan confirmed hairline (small) fractures of President-elect Biden‘s lateral and intermediate cuneiform bones, which are in the mid-foot," Dr. Kevin O'Connor, Biden's physician, said in a statement in November. "It is anticipated that he will likely require a walking boot for several weeks."
Biden said he wears "the big boot most of the time," but switches to a smaller boot for other activities.
"I wear the big boot most of the time, but when coming out here it's just kind of clumsy. So, they gave me this little thing that'll work," Biden said to CNN's Jake Tapper.
