Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on Sunday said he would shut down the country's economy in order to quell the coronavirus if such a decision was recommended by health advisers.
When asked in an interview on ABC News if Biden would be prepared to shut the country down again, Biden said he would do whatever is necessary.
"I would be prepared to do whatever it takes to save lives. We cannot get the country moving until we control the virus," Biden said.
Asked specifically if he would consider halting all economic activity if scientists advised doing so, Biden replied, "I would shut it down."
Biden's remarks came during the first joint interview with his newly-appointed running mate Kamala Harris.
