Former Joe Biden staffer Tara Reade, who accused the Democratic presidential candidate of sexually assaulting her in 1993, filed a formal criminal complaint Thursday with the sexual assault unit of the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, according to Business Insider.
Reade told police that Biden had assaulted her in a Senate corridor and touched her genitals inappropriately without her consent. She first made her allegations against Biden last month during a podcast interview with journalist Katie Halper.
Biden has yet to address the allegations, but his campaign issued a statement denying the accusations.
"Women have a right to tell their story, and reporters have an obligation to rigorously vet those claims. We encourage them to do so, because these accusations are false."
