Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden was slammed after the final presidential debate on Thursday for saying that he would "transition" away from the oil industry if he wins the election.
"Would he close down the oil industry?" President Trump asked Biden during the debate. "Would you close down the oil industry?"
"I would transition from the oil industry, yes," Biden said.
"That's a big statement," Trump responded.
Biden said he would stop giving the oil industry government subsidies, citing pollution as a reason. The former vice president saw pushback online as a result of the promised policy.
