Two of the questioners at the ABC town hall for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden had ties to prominent Democrats, including former President Barack Obama.
Dual town halls were hosted on Thursday night for the presidential candidates. ABC News hosted Biden's town hall, while NBC News hosted Trump's.
One questioner at Biden's event was Nathan Osburn, a former speechwriter in the Office of Public Affairs at the Commerce Department under the Obama administration.
Osburn — whose occupation was listed as "communications" by ABC — was quoted in the Philadelphia Inquirer earlier this year as "a former Obama administration speech writer" who had created a "Philly for Pete group" supporting former Democratic presidential primary candidate Pete Buttigieg.
Osburn asked a question about Judge Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation process and about Biden's opinion on court packing. Biden, breaking from his previous refusal to answer the same question, said his opinion on court packing would be influenced by how Barrett's confirmation process was handled.
Another questioner at the town hall, Mieke Haeck, was presented as a physical therapist from Stage College, Pennsylvania. Haeck is the wife of Ezra Nanes, a high-profile Democratic 2018 challenger to Republican state Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman. Nanes currently serves as a member-at-large for the Centre County Democratic Committee.
Haeck asked about LGBT issues.
