Former President Bill Clinton reportedly had a secret dinner with Ghislaine Maxwell, the alleged madam of sex trafficker Jeffry Epstein, in Los Angeles in 2014.

According to an investigative report from The Daily Beast, Clinton invited a group of friends to dinner at Crossroads Kitchen in L.A. after a February 2014 gala. While TMZ and Hollywood insiders captured several celebrities entering the same restaurant that night, including producer Jerry Bruckheimer and actors Bruce Willis and Sean Penn, the media made no note of Clinton's small group, although TMZ ran an article that night noting that the former president had dined at the restaurant.

Clinton's team reportedly argued about extending an invitation to Maxwell, especially considering her links to Epstein. In addition to Clinton's documented flights onboard one of Epstein's planes from 2002 to 2003, where Clinton was photographed with Maxwell, the Clintons had public ties with Maxwell for a number of years. Maxwell and Epstein both attended a White House reception in 1993 while Clinton was president. Maxwell vacationed with Chelsea Clinton in 2009 on a yacht and attended Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2010. Clinton social "gatekeeper" Doug Band then reportedly cut Maxwell out of the Clintons' social circles.

Maxwell attended the dinner with tech CEO Scott Borgerson, who is rumored to now be her husband.

One source told The Daily Beast that Clinton was relieved that the media did not find out about the gathering.

"This is an intimate dinner with Clinton in L.A.," said another source. "Think of all the people he knows in L.A., and Ghislaine gets to attend."
