More than 100 illegal immigrants released into Texas by the Border Patrol have tested positive for COVID-19.

Spokesperson for the city of Brownsville, Felipe Romero, said that the 108 positive cases represent 6.3% of the number of total migrants who have been rapid-tested at the city's main bus station, which is where the Border Patrol is releasing them.

Romero said Brownsville does not have the power to prevent those who test positive from traveling to other states.

Migrants who tested positive were not provided any documentation showing their results, and a bus company worker said they cannot ask passengers for proof of COVID-19 test results before boarding.
