Audio technology company Beats by Dre announced Monday that it has signed an endorsement deal with NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace.
In making the announcement, the company referenced a tweet by President Trump, in which the president asked if Wallace had "apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers and officials" for a "hoax."
A Beats by Dre tweet about the endorsement deal reads, in part:
"No one should ever be asked to apologize for standing up for what's right — we are proud to welcome @BubbaWallace to the Beats by Dr. Dre family."
The tweet implies that Beats by Dre moved up its announcement following Trump's tweet.
🔦 Wallace, the sport's only black full-time driver, was thrust into the spotlight in late June after NASCAR announced a noose had been found hanging in his garage at Alabama's Talladega Super Speedway. An FBI investigation determined the so-called noose was actually a months-old garage-door pull rope tied with a loop, presumably for easier operation.
