In an emotional interview Friday, the father of Cannon Hinnant, the five-year-old boy who was shot in the head and killed on Sunday while riding his bike with his sisters, said that the suspect, Darius Sessoms, has been his neighbor for eight years — and he even had Sessoms over for dinner the night before the killing.
"[You] can't imagine what it's like to hold your son in your arms with a gunshot wound to the head, and his blood is running down your arms," the grieving father said.
According to Hinnant, there was no bad blood whatsoever between the neighbors. The night before the killing he even had Sessoms over for dinner and they drank beer on the porch together.
"There wasn't anything between me and him, any bad blood whatsoever, for him to have a reason to do this," an emotional Hinnant said.
"I have no idea why he would kill my son in front of his two sisters and his cousin. No idea."
