Veteran St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright invited his fans this week to read through the entire Bible with him in one year.

The three-time All-Star and former World Series champ, nicknamed "Waino," started a separate Twitter account to interact with fans who are reading through the Bible with him. As of Sunday afternoon, over 11,000 people had followed the account.

The hurler will also send daily emails with thoughts and reflections from that day's readings.

Wainwright, according to Wikipedia, saved the series-clinching games of both the 2006 National League Championship Series and World Series, led the National League multiple times in wins, innings pitched, and games started, and has multiple top-ten finishes in earned run average, strikeouts, walks plus hits per inning pitched, and complete games. In 2014, he became the first starter in MLB history to go seven full innings in 9 of his first 18 starts without giving up a run. In his career, Wainwright has won more than 150 games, has three All-Star selections, two Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, and finished in the top three in the Cy Young Award balloting four times.

"Waino" has 1,776 strikeouts in his career to date, second only to Bob Gibson Cardinals franchise history.
