As of last Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 1,604 lung illness cases related to e-cigarette use. Every state except for Alaska but including Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands reported cases of lung injuries related to vaping.

The CDC also reported 34 deaths across 24 states with a patient age range of 17 to 75.

While the specific chemical at fault is still unknown, the CDC said that among the patients suffering vaping-related illnesses, most of them had been using products containing THC, a psychoactive component found in cannabis and marijuana.
