The Chadian army has reportedly killed 1,000 Boko Haram terrorists in a major offensive, a marked victory for a country that has been battling the Islamic terrorist group for years.
The campaign, called Operation Bomo's Anger, was a response to an insurgent attack on the military's Bomo Base several weeks ago. Nearly 100 Chadian soldiers were killed during that raid.
Soldiers were dispatched to clear islands within, and nearby land around, Lake Chad in the southwestern part of the country. 52 soldiers were reportedly killed during the offensive, with another 200 wounded.
