9 killed, 36 injured in deadliest Memorial Day weekend in Chicago since 2015

The city of Chicago has already seen 36 people shot and nine killed over Memorial Day weekend, making it the deadliest one since 2015.

Memorial Day Weekend shootings since 2015:

  • 2015: 12 killed, 43 injured
  • 2016: 6 killed, 56 injured
  • 2017: 6 killed 44 injured
  • 2018: 7 killed, 30 injured
  • 2019: 7 killed, 34 injured

According to data tracked by the Chicago Tribune, the number of shootings this year is approaching 2019's total, despite the coronavirus lockdowns, severe storms, and added police units.

The numbers are tallied from 5 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Tuesday.
