An app propagated by the one-party Communist government in China may be secretly spying on 100 million users.

The app, called “Study the Great Nation,” is allegedly a propaganda tool meant to teach “Xi Jinping Thought,” the political philosophy of the country’s communist president. It is the most popular app in China and earlier this year was listed as the ninth-most popular app in the world. Users are given Communist party material to read; by doing so they can earn “study points”

The app also allows technicians to access phone data and app data in a way that makes users vulnerable to unwitting data-mining. Users can also have their locations tracked and their audio phone calls recorded.
