Holding signs and chanting for Mayor Jenny Durkan to be removed from office, a large group of Black Lives Matter activists stormed into Seattle's City Hall building late Tuesday after being let into the building by City Council member Kshama Sawant.

Sawant has been outspoken in her support of protesters raging against Durkan's authorization of aggressive police tactics during the recent national rioting. According to a lawsuit filed against Seattle city authorities, Durkan has approved the use of tear gas and other chemical deterrents in an effort to maintain social order.

Video shows the large group of demonstrators flooding the building amid shouts of "Durkan must go."

The group of protesters occupied the building for about an hour.
