A CNN analyst has declared it a "certainty" that President Trump will, in July of this year, part ways with Mike Pence and select former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as his running mate for the 2020 election, saying that the reason Trump put Pence in charge of the coronavirus response is so he can use it later as justification to ditch him in favor of Haley.
"This is not a prediction. It's a certainty," Begala said. "On Thursday, July 16 — that's the date the Democrat gives his or her acceptance address — on that day, to interrupt that narrative, Donald Trump will call a press conference at Mar-a-Lago. He's going to dump Mike Pence and put Nikki Haley on the ticket to try to get those suburban moms.
You watch. Guaranteed. Trump put Pence in charge of coronavirus to throw him under the bus."
Haley has previously denied claims that she is looking to run alongside Trump, calling both Trump and Pence "a great ticket together" and saying that there was "no truth whatsoever" to the rumors of her vice presidential ambitions.
