CNN on Friday finally covered the brutal murder of 5-year-old Cannon Hinnant in a brief 218-word article amid pressure from conservatives.
On Sunday evening, Darius Sessoms, 25, reportedly rushed Cannon as the young boy was riding his bike and fatally shot him in the head as his two older sisters watched. Sessoms was arrested on Monday and has been charged with first-degree murder.
As of Thursday, all major media networks, excluding Fox News, had neglected to cover the horrific story.
This lack of coverage provoked prominent conservatives to demand that mainstream media break the silence on Hinnant's murder, inciting a #SayHisName hashtag across social media.
As of Friday morning, NBC, CBS, ABC, New York Times, NPR, The Washington Post, and MSNBC have yet to publish anything pertaining to Hinnant's murder.
