Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is calling for a revolt as a result of the death of George Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer pinned him down on the street with a knee pressed against the back of his neck for nearly nine minutes.

"When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction. The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance. We have the right to fight back! Rest in Power George Floyd," Kaepernick tweeted.

🔦 Kaepernick sparked controversy in 2016 when he took a knee during the National Anthem to protest police brutality. Many believe his actions resulted in him being blackballed from playing in the NFL.
