According to reports, conservative commentator Dan Bongino has agreed to terms with Cumulus Media and Westwood One to air his radio program in the 12-3 p.m. time slot previously held by legendary broadcaster Rush Limbaugh.
Bongino, who currently airs a 1-hour syndicated program on over 100 radio stations for Westwood One, will repurpose his show to fill those prime listening hours that Limbaugh owned for decades.
The announcement came as a bit of a surprise to many Limbaugh loyalists, who regarded Mark Steyn, the frequent fill-in for the late host, to be the heir apparent. But Bongino, a former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent has built a significant following. He has also guest-hosted some of the largest talk radio programs in the country, including Sean Hannity's.
The official announcement of Bongino's new deal could be coming as early as next week.
