Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) introduced a resolution on Friday that seeks to remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from the House of Representatives.

With a two-thirds vote, Congress can expel any member. A total of 72 representatives, all Democrats, co-sponsored the resolution.

"I take no joy in introducing this resolution," Gomez said. "But any member who incites political violence and threatens our lives must be expelled, and I'll do everything in my power to protect our Democracy and keep our colleagues safe."

When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked "where does House Democratic leadership stand" on the resolution, she said she is "not going to get into that."

"What Mr. Gomez did is his own view, and that is not a leadership position," Pelosi said.

In February, there were 11 Republicans that joined the Democrats in voting to remove Greene from her assigned committees, 230-199.
