A new Morning Consult poll shows an overwhelming majority of Americans blame China for the coronavirus pandemic.

Nearly three-quarters of Americans — 73% — believe China is either "somewhat" or "very" responsible for coronavirus deaths that have occurred in the United States. That number remains fairly consistent across party lines, with 80% of Republicans and 71% of Democrats blaming the communist country.

The poll additionally shows both groups regard personal responsibility as a significant factor as well. According to the poll, 84% of Democrats and 67% of Republicans think citizens who do not follow guidelines on proper social distancing are also to blame for the death toll.

A sharper divide between the parties emerges when the questions turn to administrative handling of the crisis. Four in five Democrats say the Trump administration is culpable for coronavirus deaths in the country, while only four in 10 Republicans agree.
