DHS says gun makers, retailers considered essential services

Gun manufacturers and retailers are now considered essential services under new guidelines released by the Department of Homeland Security on Saturday.

The DHS guidelines say that both workers that support the manufacturing of safety equipment and uniforms for law enforcement, first responders, and public safety personnel and workers supporting "firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges" are essential services.

This means that both sectors will stay open during shelter-in-place orders.
