Adopting fake southern accents, two guests on a CNN panel mocked supporters of President Trump as ignorant, illiterate hillbillies, causing host Don Lemon to laugh until he had to wipe tears from his eyes.

CNN anchor Lemon was joined on the panel by New York Times columnist and CNN contributor Wajahat Ali and ex-GOP strategist Rick Wilson, who called Trump supporters "credulous boomer rubes." A "rube" is another word for a country bumpkin; hillbilly; hick.

After saying that the president would not be able to find Ukraine on a map, Wilson said:

"That's partly him playing to the base and playing to their audience: You know, the credulous boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump, that wants to think that, [heavy southern accent] 'Donald Trump's the smart one and y'all elitists are dumb!'"

"You elitists with your geography and your maps and your spelling!" Ali piped in, adopting a southern accent himself, as Lemon laughed uncontrollably.

"And your math and your readin'!" Wilson continued, still using the accent. "All those lines on a map!"

"Only them elitists know where Ukraine is!" Ali said.

"That was a good one. I needed that," Lemon said after composing himself.

The remarkable video segment received intense pushback on social media, including from President Trump.
