The Dow Jones Industrial dropped 280 points on Tuesday after President Trump said trade negotiations with China could extend past the 2020 election.

While speaking with reporters in London, Trump said of the trade negotiations that "in some ways I think it's better to wait for after the election if you want to know the truth."

The drop also comes in the wake of Trump suggesting increased steel and aluminum tariffs on Brazil and Argentina, and U.S. officials suggesting increased cheese and champagne tariffs on France.

🔦 While the Dow is down this week, it is currently up 19 percent year-to-date. Only three times in the last 20 years has the Dow seen as great or greater growth as it has seen this year.
