Wang Yi, the pastor of Early Rain Covenant Church in China, has been sentenced to nine years in jail, suspension of political rights for three years, and confiscation of personal assets.
Early Rain Covenant Church, a large Presbyterian church located in the capital of southwestern China's Sichuan Province, was forcibly shut down in December 2018. Nearly 100 members of the congregation were arrested and Wang was accused of "inciting subversion of state power."
? An elder of the church was sentenced to four years in prison earlier this year.
