According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Elon Musk's total net worth is up to $117.5 billion. Even though Musk was forced to miss the launch of four astronauts aboard a SpaceX rocket because of a possible COVID-19 infection, the acceptance of Tesla onto a stock market index made his wealth increase by $15 billion.
As his wealth soared, Musk surpassed fellow tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg and became the world's third richest person following Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
Musk oversees Tesla, which is the electric car company that is valued at more than $400 billion. Musk said he is planning to sell "almost all" of his possessions.
